Dear 10X Business Builder,

Can love help you become a better presenter?

Is it possible to cultivate the emotional state of love before your speaking gigs?

Is love connected to influence?

My answers to these questions are: yes, yes and yes.

I know that for some of you, this message may seem a little strange or may be out of context, but in my opinion it is not. As a matter-of-fact, I believe that this post is about “a small idea that creates a big impact.”

While difficult to define it precisely, we all understand the notion of “love”, to love or to be loved.

Love has many different meanings, obviously the romantic and sexual meaning take the forefront of many. But love goes beyond Don Juan’s paradigm. One of the definitions of love by the Merriam-Webster dictionary is: “a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person”. Another definition from Dictionary.com is “to have a strong liking for, take great pleasure in” something.

As a presenter, it is important for me to have that feeling of strong affection and liking for the audience, regardless of whether I have or have not met them before my talk.

So you may be thinking, how can you love the audience if you have not met them before your presentation?

The answer is simple: you love their humanity.

As humans, we all go through similar experiences in life:

We all…
…struggle
…cry
…set goals and don’t achieve them
…set goals and achieve them
…get disappointed
…overcome barriers
…dream
…love
…smile
…celebrate
and much more

That is how I am able to love the audience without knowing them, by loving their humanity.

I believe that this small idea can create big results because when I speak from this “loving state” my energy changes and the audience notices and their energy changes as well. The audience knows that I am coming from a place of “love” and I want them to be successful. Their resistance to my message goes down, and as their minds and hearts open up.

So how do you create this emotional state of love before your presentations? There are many ways to do it, here is how I do it. It is a little unique, but it works for me:
