Talk about it and be about it

Dear 10X Business Builder,

I’m visiting mamma bear for the holidays.

Her den is on an island in Washington State.  There is usually only one of most things… 1 grocery store, 1 hardware store, 1 movie theatre, etc…

While here, I wanted to get a chiropractic adjustment. I strained my back lifting weights… so I did what most people do, I GTS. (Googled That Shiiite)

And lo and behold… I hit the mother load!!  There were 2 choices.

So I picked up the phone and I called the first Doctor.  The front desk person answered the phone and I explained what I was looking for and asked some general questions and then asked her, “what type of Chiropractor is the Doc?”

The other end went dead silent.

“um, hold on a second, let me ask the Chiropractor Assistant”

… more silence…

And then voice comes on and says, “this is Dr. ____”

I greeted him and asked, just curious but what type of chiropractic philosophy do you follow?

(We happen to do a lot work with Chiros, so I’m pretty familiar with the broad spectrum of philosophies.  Like most affiliations, I have a personal preference.  Not that one is better than the other, it’s just that, a personalpreference.)

But the guy clammed up and said something along the lines, “I’ve got extensive training, I’ve been practicing for 20 years, but I’m not going to get into that now”

He didn’t want to get into that right now?!

Really?!

I CALLED HIM.

I’m in immediate need.  I’m begging him to close me and he “doesn’t want to get into that now?”

So I hung up with him and called the other number.

I happened to catch the Doctor personally and posed the same question to her.

She let me have it!

She practically yelled, “I graduated from Western States school of chiropractic and I believe in evidence based care which includes spinal adjustments and I also like to incorporate massage… I’m more physical than the other options on the Island, if you prefer activators, I’m not the one for you.”

I said, “when are you available?”

If you don’t believe in something and stand for something then you stand for nothing.  You have to be about it and talk about it.

The first guy I called, I got the vibe he would have told me what I wanted to hear, just to get me in the door.

The second person, I got the vibe, this is what I’m about take or leave it. It was more authentic and congruent.

Sure, she might repel some people, being so definitive and opinionated, but they aren’t her ideal clients anyways.

This feeling of affinity she created with me is a result of what is called “self identification”.  We go deep into what it is and how you can create this phenomena with your audience during your talks.

Go here to learn how.

Back in action,
